Beiersdorf, a leader in skincare manufacturing with a workforce of over 21,000, is dedicated to optimizing its production processes through its Beyond SkinCare initiative, which focuses on enhancing operational efficiency and resource management.
Since 2019, all Beiersdorf manufacturing facilities have made the transition to renewable electricity (Scope 2 emissions). The Berlin plant has particularly excelled in manufacturing innovation, notably by integrating biomethane for heating and process heat. This shift not only boosts energy efficiency but also helps to lower operational costs.
In line with its sustainability goals, Beiersdorf is committed to achieving carbon neutrality across all its factories by 2030. The Berlin facility has taken the lead in this initiative, becoming the first to switch to biogas in early 2022. This plant is set to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2025, focusing on refining production operations and minimizing both direct and indirect emissions throughout the entire manufacturing process.

Despite being their most compact plant globally, BMB stands out for its production efficiency. BMB churns out a staggering 1.3 million bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel daily and reaching over 60 countries annually.
A champion for environmental responsibility, BMB exemplifies Beiersdorf's dedication to a greener future. In a ground-breaking move in 2022, the plant transitioned to 100% biogas, slashing its CO2e footprint by an impressive 99% compared to 2018.
BMB further strengthens its commitment by strategically sourcing a significant portion of its raw materials from local suppliers within a 30-minute radius, minimising transportation emissions and fostering a sustainable, localised supply chain. .
