Supply Chain Resilience in volatile Times - strategies for stress testing your value chain
World renowned Professor Simchi-Levi has developed a groundbreaking Risk Exposure Index (REI) model to identify and respond to hidden risks in the supply chain.
His work on “stress tests” for critical supply chains and ways to guide global supply chain recovery were included in the 2022 Economic Report of the President presented to the U.S. Congress in April.
At the heart of REI is a mathematical model of the supply chain that focuses on potential failures at different supply chain nodes — a flood at a supplier’s factory, or a shortage of raw materials at another factory, for instance. In this session Professor Simchi Levi will share his insights from years of working with global businesses including Ford Motor company and others.

Presentation: E2E value chain transformation: How can supply chain play a role in the organization of transformations
RHI Magnesita, the market leader in the refractory business, offers the full value chain, helping from the mining of raw materials, through production, to the customization of the bricks and mixes used in the equipment of the world’s steel, cement, nonferrous metals, and glass producers. Their clients' products naturally have significant wear and tear over time and need replacement for continued use. The longer a client can use a furnace or kiln with the same lining, the more return they get on the investment, however waiting too long poses an enormous risk of unforeseen downtimes, cost-intensive production stops or even health & safety incidents. So the big question is: How do I get the maximum ROI? Using the power of AI, RH Magnesita has developed a refractory management tool called APO, or Automated Process Optimization. It combines all the relevant production data using AI technology, helping them predict refractory behavior in each step of the client’s production process. RH’s industry experts then help clients to interpret this data, so that they can make fact-based decisions on when to replace their lining while getting the best performance out of the refractories.
